Don't get cold feet...

This may or may not be new information to you guys, but we are having an outdoor wedding. Please please please wear appropriate clothing and shoes or be prepared to suffer through it silently :) The weather channel says that it should be around 50 degrees, so it won't be terribly cold. They also say it may rain. If it does, we have a backup indoor location.

Things with which to occupy your time...

I know! I know! It has been too long since we posted anything!! Seriously though, if your last few months have been as crazy as OUR last few months then you: A.) Understand completely and B.) Have our sympathies.

We DO hope that everyone is in good health and good spirits. And we are excited to see everyone in about 13-ish days. :)

We have no huge announcements or changes to make – just wanted to update you on possible happenings for those that find they have spare time on their hands whilst in the Charlotte/Concord Area.

• The Renaissance Festival: http://www.royalfaires.com/carolina/
The last weekend for this happens to fall on the 16th – so those coming in early may want to check it out. You can enjoy jousting, jugglers, swordplay and wordplay. It is a BLAST. Fun for the whole family!
• For the Family : http://charlottecultureguide.com/feature.php?id=6
Most of this is offered a little further south than where most of you are staying but if you have the time – its interesting/fun stuff.
• Movies that are out: http://events.charlotteobserver.com/concord-nc/venues/show/45112-amc-concord-mills-24
This is for the closest theater to where most everyone is staying. I am sure that the selection may change within the next two weeks but this link should tell you all you want to know.
• The Flying Saucer: http://www.beerknurd.com/stores/charlotte
For those 21 years of age or older – this is a good place to hang out, have a beer (from almost anywhere in the world), and eat some pretty decent bar food.
• A Dog Show, (Yes – you read correctly!) Apparently there is a dog show being held the same weekend as the wedding. We would certainly enjoy your company at the wedding but we do understand the undeniable pull of a good canine beauty pageant. :) If you are TRULY interested let me know and I will find more information about it for you.

The things we listed in a previous post (shopping, sporting, and learning) are still all there to enjoy as well – so, if you are interested in any of it and have the extra time, go out and have some more fun!!

Hello! How’s everyone doing? Well, we hope! Billiam and I have decided to (try to) create a Wedding Blog to store “important info” prior to (& possibly after) our bliss-filled day of matrimony. We will continuously update it with hotel/inn suggestions, directions, stuff-to-do-s, and various other random things. You can also leave any comments and/or questions on the blog & we will appreciate/answer them ASAP.

[Note: PLEASE forgive us – we have no clue what we are doing…in general… & especially with this blog.]

Now, where to start? Intro first and then more to follow? Sounds like a plan!

This is OUR STORY…& we’re sticking to it!!

The story of Bill & Jenni is one cloaked with mystery and ice cream. Essentially this means that we can’t remember how or when it was that we met exactly. There is no real cutely-romantic story behind it all. I could try to make one up for you using actual events/facts but i can’t say that it would be the one particular occasion that set the stage for this coming wedding. So here’s the 1st date story…

Bill is a friend of Mike Swindell’s from school (Winthrop University) and was slowly introduced into Mike’s group of friends – of which Jenni had been a part for about 5 years. After hanging out casually as friends for who knows how long, Jenni started dropping VERY subtle hints to Bill that she was interested in him. As you all probably are aware subtlety just doesn’t work for Jenni very well and she is not one to stand around waiting patiently for fate or Cupid to intervene on her behalf.

Two weeks of playing coy and being “all girlie” was quite enough for Jenni. Before Bill left on his family trip to Austria that summer, Jenni wrote Bill an email advising him that she would very much like it if he stopped dragging his feet already and asked her out on a date. Upon his return Bill did just that! Their first date was the Webster’s Dictionary definition of “perfection.” Jenni drove to Rock Hill, met Bill’s best friend/roommate (Mike Smith) and Bill’s kids (Artemis and Porter) and then she hopped on the back of Bill’s motorcycle. They rode to a park where they sat in a field of clover, ate pints of Ben & Jerry’s with the fireflies and the rain, and talked about everything and nothing…and fell in love.
